Five well-known manufacturers and their Snus-brands

In the following article you can find out which five snus manufacturers you should know and which are their best-known snus brands. We will also give you an insight into the background of these manufacturers and show you how they have successfully positioned themselves on the market for tobacco-free nicotine pouches. Towards the end, we will also clear up a widespread misunderstanding surrounding the term "NGP".

British American Tobacco

British American Tobacco (BAT) is a leading global tobacco company headquartered in London (UK) that has significantly expanded its portfolio to include smoke-free products. Through strategic acquisitions and innovations, BAT has been able to expand its presence in the Snus- and nicotine pouch market.

An important production facility of the manufacturer, which ensures the availability of products with different regulations for various countries, is located in Pécs, Hungary. The site in Pécs is a state-of-the-art facility where a broad-based team strives to implement EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) criteria in the best possible way.

A new plant was also recently put into operation in Trieste, Italy. There, for example, the plastic cans of nicotine pouch products are being converted to the use of single-polymer plastics and bio-based materials are being tested in line with ESG efforts. The aim is to achieve international sustainability and carbon certification.

British American Tobacco is likely to still be affected by the Snus-brands Epok and Lyft, which are now part of the widespread Brand Velo Snus brand.

GN Tobacco

Whoever wants to enter the world of Snus-brands will certainly come across the manufacturer GN Tobacco. With its headquarters in Sweden - the country that is famous for its long Snus-tradition among consumers - and various brands, this manufacturer has established itself strongly in the nicotine pouch market.

In 2004, the company was founded under the name Snus AB, followed in 2007 by a distribution agreement with the Liggett Vector Group, the third largest cigarette company in the USA. 2008 Snus AB finally changed its name to GN Tobacco AB. In addition to the production of classic Swedish products containing tobacco at the Bispgården site in Sweden, the production of tobacco-free alternatives quickly gained momentum. Since 2014, the production of tobacco-free nicotine pouches of the highest quality has been almost completely automated in a state-of-the-art plant in Enköping (SWE) with newly updated production lines using the latest technologies.

GN Tobacco is known for its Snus-brands Siberia, Odens, Hit and White Fox.

Habit Factory

Another Scandinavian-based, reputable manufacturer that writes innovation and an unmistakable passion for detail into its genetics is Habit Factory. Headquartered in Sweden, the factory in Stockholm produces high-quality tobacco-free nicotine pouches that fully comply with existing food safety and hygiene regulations. Other production facilities with the same standards can also be found in Finland, for example.

An in-house laboratory at the heart of the factories also ensures that the latest product formulations not only cover new trends, but also set them, thanks to a dedicated research and development department. Investigations into nicotine concentrations, nicotine release and the type and development of flavors when consuming the pouches are a core task here.

The company has a clear vision: to develop first-class products that meet the needs of demanding customers. This is probably one of the reasons why Habit Factory has been able to secure a significant presence in a highly competitive market segment and quickly make a name for itself.

The first brand that Habit Factory launched on the market is Klint. It was soon followed by the brand Fix and most recently Noto. It is striking that all three provide unique flavor combinations.

Ministry of Snus

Without the manufacturer Ministry of Snus the nicotine pouch market would certainly not be what it is today - because Ace, Rite or even Gritt will be familiar to almost anyone who considers themselves a nicotine pouch enthusiast.

The Danish producer offers a variety of products that cover a wide range of flavors in a colorful mix of the highest quality. Ace and Gritt aim to cover two unique worlds, with the former promising a comfortable, even nicotine experience alongside sweet flavors. Gritt, on the other hand, is aimed at all those who like it "salty" and prefer a quick nicotine release with a fast peak.

And as diverse as the product portfolio is, the company's history is just as exciting and characterized by speed. Founded in 2018 as a subsidiary of the Mac Baren Tobacco Company in Svendborg (DK), this was followed in 2022 by 23 further locations in Stockholm (SWE) and Copenhagen. Starting out as a start-up, the newcomer was able to grow into a serious global player in a very short space of time and has now not only made a name for itself, but also secured its strong market position.

Ministry of Snus is driven by people's opinions, its own professional curiosity and its pride in tradition, focusing on lifestyle products for the free and conscious consumer.

NGP Tobacco

N.G.P Tobacco is an independent company known for nicotine pouch brands in the extremely strong product segment. The nicotine pouch manufacturer was founded by a group of experienced people from the tobacco industry. Today, it is regarded as one of the first companies to specialize in the production of tobacco-free white pouches and has been able to make a name for itself by meeting various customer demands.

The nicotine pouches are manufactured in Denmark, in the city of Aalborg. N.G.P Tobacco is known for its Snus-brands Pablo, Killa or Xtrime and Blck.

Is NGP Imperial the same as N.G.P Tobacco?

Because there is often confusion between NGP Imperial and NGP Tobacco, we would like to clarify the following: NGP Imperial is a division of the international tobacco group Imperial Brands, with the term "NGP" standing for "Next Generation Products". It focuses on the development and marketing of smoke-free products such as e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches. This division includes brands such as Zone X and Skrufwhich were (co-)developed under the umbrella of Imperial Brands.

There is therefore no direct link between N.G.P. Tobacco and NGP Imperial, which are separate entities in the nicotine market.
