Snus Brands at a glance: All brands and what sets them apart

Die kurze Antwort

Which Snus-Brands are there and which one is right for me?

• Over 100 different ones Snus- and nicotine pouch brands exist worldwide.
• Choosing the right brand depends primarily on four factors: Nicotine strength (1–50 mg/g), flavor, sachet format (Slim, Mini, Large, Great Slim) and price.
• It is crucial to understand that the mg/g information only describes the concentration - the actual effect is also influenced by bag moisture, pH value and nicotine form.
• The market offers both established traditional Swedish brands as well as modern manufacturers with innovative concepts.

In Scandinavia, Snus looks back on a long tradition. Over the years, individual pioneer brands such as Ettan Snus have developed into a wide variety that now includes more than 100 different Snus and nicotine pouch brands worldwide – each with its own profile in terms of strength, flavor, and format. As new manufacturers continue to enter the market, this variety keeps growing – and with it, the challenge of keeping track of everything.

This article gives you exactly that guidance: it compares well-known tobacco-free Snus brands, classifies the different product types, and compares them directly so that in the end, you won’t just know the “best” brand, but the one that’s best for you.

By the way: The name “Snus” comes from the classic Swedish tobacco product, which may not be sold in the EU outside Sweden. In German usage, the term has become established for its tobacco-free successors, Nicotine Pouches, also known as nicotine pouches. You can find more general information about Snus in the article What is Snus?

What really sets Snus brands apart: strength, flavor, format – and price

The most important question first: how can you tell whether a brand is right for you? In most cases, four criteria make the difference: Nicotine strength, flavor, how it feels under your lip, and price. Packaging and origin tend to play more of an explanatory role: for example, they can reveal why a brand has a certain flavor. For the purchase decision itself, however, they are usually secondary.

The strength scale we use as a guide

The first criterion in particular – Nicotine content – is often the hardest to grasp. That’s because it varies considerably between brands and product lines. To help you find the right option more quickly within this broad range, Snus varieties in the Snuzone shop can be categorized using the following scale. It also shows who the products in each strength category are suitable for:

Strength category

Nicotine content (mg/g)

Target group

Light

1-5 mg/g

Beginners, occasional users

Medium

6-9 m/g

Beginners to moderate users

Strong

10-14 mg/g

Experienced users

Extra Strong

15-21 mg/g

Experienced users

Ultra Strong

From 22 mg/g

Exclusively experienced consumers

For context: In one study, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) identified an average Nicotine content of 9.5 milligrams per Pouches determined. For some individual products, values of nearly 50 milligrams were found. Such high values are not without risk, because as the nicotine amount increases, so does the risk of poisoning. Regardless of the specific dosage, the following also applies: regular use can lead to dependence.1

Shop by Nicotine content

How to read the can: mg/g, mg per Pouches and manufacturer scales

The industry standard on every Snus-can is the value in mg/g – it describes the nicotine concentration in the pouch material. However, a second value is even more important for the actual effect: the Nicotine content in mg per Portion, in other words the Quantity that you actually place under your lip. If this information is missing from the can, it can easily be calculated yourself:

Nicotine content in mg/Portion = pouch weight in grams x nicotine concentration in mg/g

Can a Pouches with 50 mg/g really deliver more nicotine than one with 16 mg/g – and still contain less overall? A comparison of two specific brands shows: a Slim-Pouches from White Fox with 16 mg/g contains around 12 mg of nicotine, while a Mini-Pouches from Garant Extreme with 50 mg/g contains only around 20 mg – so despite having more than triple the concentration, it does not even contain twice as much nicotine. The reason lies in the format: A small Mini-Pouches often contains less nicotine despite its high mg/g figure than a large-format Pouches with half the concentration.

To make matters more complicated, many brands use their own strength scales that cannot be compared directly: Velo, for example, marks the Nicotine strength on its cans with a point-based system, while Klint numbers its strength levels instead. Other brands such as Pablo, which mainly offer products in the higher nicotine range, do not use a point or number scale at all. In such cases, you can find the conversion into mg/g on the respective brand pages – if in doubt, the mg/g value remains the most reliable reference point for assessing Snus strength.

Effect profile: why 16 mg/g does not always feel like 16 mg/g

Why does a Snus with 16 mg/g sometimes feel stronger than one with 20 mg/g? The answer does not lie in the nicotine amount alone, but also in factors such as the form of nicotine, the moisture of the pouch, and the pH value. As a basic rule: the moister a Snus, the faster the nicotine is released and then absorbed by the body. A moist Snus with less Nicotine content can therefore feel stronger than a dry Snus with more Nicotine content.

The pH value is also a decisive factor: since nicotine is a basic alkaloid, meaning a nitrogen-containing compound with alkaline properties, it is absorbed more quickly through the oral mucosa at higher pH levels. A study by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) shows just how much weight and Nicotine content can actually vary: The nicotine content by weight ranges there from 4.48 to 75.5 milligrams per gram of Pouches.2

Another effect that is often overlooked is flavouring — menthol, for example, also intensifies the perceived strength. As a result, a cool mint variety feels stronger than a fruity variety with the same Nicotine content.

This can also be seen in customer reviews. While White Fox and Siberia are often described as “smooth but long-lasting”, Cuba Black and Pablo Ice Cold are described as a “faster, more direct kick” with an equally long-lasting effect. So if a brand once felt “too weak” to you, it may not have been because of the number on the can, but rather the product’s effect profile.

Format: Slim, Mini, Large and Super Slim

Another key factor in the purchase decision is how it feels under the lip — and that is largely determined by the format. In general, four formats can be distinguished, each differing in comfort, discretion, and nicotine release.

Slim-Pouches are designed to be slim and elongated, allowing for discreet use. Their carrier materials ensure a steady release of nicotine and flavour, giving this format a balanced combination of fill volume and release duration while remaining discreet to use.

Even slimmer is the Super-Slim-Pouches, as used for example in Siberia All White. It has the length of a Slim pouch, but is significantly narrower. This creates an even more discreet fit that, just like the Slim-Pouches, sits completely along the gumline.

Mini formats, on the other hand, are shorter and flatter. Due to the lower pouch mass, they contain less nicotine in absolute terms, even if the mg/g value is high. Klint, for example, offers Minis in the range of 8 to 16 mg/g. Flavour release also tends to be faster with this format. Thanks to their reduced fill capacity, Mini-Pouches can be placed particularly discreetly and provide a more subtle mouthfeel.

Large or “Original” Pouches have the largest overall volume, which allows for an especially long-lasting release. Under the upper lip, they are more noticeable than Slim-, Mini-, or Super-Slim formats, making them especially suitable for anyone who prefers a more intense flavour experience over a longer period.

Price: the fourth, often underestimated dimension

The prices of different brands vary considerably. Among other things, they depend on the brand name, distribution channels, regional availability, taxes, ingredients, and can content. Many newer brands show a recurring pattern: high strength, many Pouches, moderate price. At the other end of the spectrum are large, established Swedish brands that justify their higher price point through flavour consistency, processing quality, and moisture level.

The price per Pouches is therefore more meaningful than the can price, because once you do the maths, brands often rank differently than they do at first glance at the can. Most nicotine pouches come in cans of 20 pieces, but there are also cans with up to 35 pouches.

All Snus brands in our range

Some brands focus on decades of Swedish tradition, others on especially intense flavors or a young, eye-catching brand image. The following list includes every brand we carry – in alphabetical order, without ranking them. For each brand, you’ll see how the range is structured, which strengths and formats are available, what’s inside, and what sets that brand apart from the others.

All brands from A to E

ACE

ACE-Snus are tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches with fast nicotine release, made by the Danish company Ministry of Snus based in Svendborg. The brand is divided into two main lines: ACE Superwhite and ACE X.

In terms of Nicotine content, the collection covers a wide range from 6 to 20 mg/g, shown using a dot scale with a maximum of six dots on the cans – on the Snuzone strength scale, Equals this corresponds to the range from “Medium” to “Extra Strong”. According to the manufacturer, the revised formula of the Pouches delivers a stronger effect at a lower Nicotine content than earlier ACE products with a comparable mg/g value. So if you’re switching from an older version, you’ll already get a similar nicotine experience at a lower concentration.

Après

Après Nicotine AB is a young company from Stockholm that specializes in tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches. Rather than relying on classic mint and fruit varieties, Après focuses on creations inspired by cocktails and desserts. Après also takes its own approach when naming its varieties: the flavors are numbered like at a perfume house – from No. 1 to No. 12. Behind them are creations including an Aperol-inspired Spritz or a Pink Spritz with strawberry, guava, and passion fruit.

The Pouches are available in nicotine strengths from 8 to 20 mg/g. For the Hyper-Strong line with 20 mg/g, increased moisture and a higher pH value are both cited as reasons for faster absorption. One special feature of the format logic is that Slim and Mini Pouches share the same concentration of 8 mg/g, but differ in the actual pouch weight and therefore in the absolute amount of nicotine per Portion.

Baron

With a Nicotine content of 50 mg/g, Baron Suns are among the strongest Snus on the market and come from Nicotobacco Factory based in Warsaw – the same manufacturer behind Cuba. The range includes four varieties, all with exactly the same strength: Baron does not offer a medium or mild option.

Because the Pouches is relatively heavy at 0.65 g, 50 mg/g works out to around 32.5 mg of nicotine per Portion – the highest value per Pouches in the entire Snuzone range. In terms of flavor, menthol, eucalyptus, and wintergreen dominate. There is also a Fruit Cocktail. Baron is only suitable for experienced consumers.

BLCK

BLCK belongs to N.G.P Tobacco, the same manufacturer as Pablo and Killa, and is positioned within this portfolio as the mildest brand. As a technical feature, the manufacturer uses various cellulose materials intended to extend nicotine release to around 35 minutes. The key lies in the ratio to pouch weight: at 0.8 g, the Pouches weighs exactly the same as Pablo Ice Cold, but at 12 instead of 30 mg/g. This results in 9.6 mg per Portion — more than the mg/g figure might suggest.

Otherwise, BLCK keeps things deliberately minimal: one strength, one format, four varieties: Mint, Cola, Watermelon and Blueberry. With a nicotine concentration of 12 mg/g (9 mg/Pouch), the products are assigned to the Snuzone category “Strong".

CAMO

Camo comes from Global Snus in Lithuania and includes two separate product lines: the regular nicotine-containing Camo Nicotine Pouches as well as Camo Energy Pouches, a nicotine-free caffeine variant with 77 mg of caffeine per Pouches. In terms of flavor, Camo stays conventional: Wild Mint, Peppermint and Ice Cold Mint on the mint side, Green Apple and Spicy Citrus as fruit options, and Orange Bubblegum as a sweet note.

In terms of strength, Camo sits at the upper end of the market: on Snuzone, Camo Snus are available in a Nicotine strength of 50 mg/g. With a filling weight of 0.5 grams, Equals corresponds to a Nicotine content of 25 mg per Pouches, delivering an intense nicotine experience. Due to the high nicotine intensity, Camo is especially suited to experienced users.

Chainpop

Chainpop was founded in Gothenburg in 2023 and is produced in Sweden. In terms of flavor, the brand focuses on unusual two-part combinations rather than classic single-note flavors. The current range includes six varieties: “Peach & Honey", “Apple & Cinnamon", “Raspberry & Lemon", “Almond & Vanilla", “Violet & Cactus" and “Peppermint & Ice".

When it comes to strength, Chainpop takes its own approach: unlike Klint or Fix, where the same flavor is available in different strength levels, each Chainpop variety is permanently tied to a specific Nicotine strength. So you choose the flavor, not the concentration. Overall, the range covers a span of 7.2 to 19 mg/g, placing it in the Medium to Extra Strong range. Also characteristic of the effect profile is a moderate pouch moisture level, which ensures a balanced ratio between onset and duration.

Cuba

With around 40 varieties, Cuba is one of the largest brands in the Snuzone range and, like Baron, comes from the Nicotobacco Factory in Warsaw. The principle behind Cuba is a line system with a fixed strength for each line: Cuba White with 16 mg/g, Cuba Ninja with 30 mg/g, Cuba Black with 43 mg/g. The system is complemented by the standalone product “Coca Leaf" with 50 mg/g.

What’s unusual here is how the flavors are mirrored across the strength levels. A large share of the Black varieties – such as Double Fresh, Cherry, Forest Berries, or Cola – also exists as a White variant. This means flavor and strength can be chosen largely independently of each other. Ninja, by contrast, stands on its own in terms of flavor: Bubblegum, Coconut, or an energy drink profile, for example, are exclusive to this line. Coca Leaf holds a special status. The coca leaf flavor cannot be found in any other brand in the range and is therefore a unique selling point.

Dizz

Dizz comes from the Estonian manufacturer NicoTech. The range currently includes eight varieties with a uniform strength of 16.5 mg/g, which equals around 8.25 mg of nicotine per Pouches Equals. What stands out is the flavor focus: Three of the eight varieties fall outside the usual mint-fruit spectrum – Choco Mint, Coco Cherry, and Cola Flaem, the latter being cola with warm cinnamon.

As product features, the manufacturer lists an integrated lid compartment for used Pouches, a pouch material made from plant fibers, and pH control designed to prevent a burning sensation. Dizz is also one of the few brands where the absence of tobacco-specific nitrosamines is explicitly mentioned. Dizz is positioned mainly for experienced Nicotine Pouches users who are used to a strong and long-lasting nicotine kick.

Dope

Dope is the high-intensity line of tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches from the Czech manufacturer Consumer Brands International (CBI). It comes from the same company as the Goat and Syx brands. One special feature right away: the can contains 22 instead of the usual 20 Pouches. There are three fixed strength levels: “Strong” with around 16 mg/g (approx. 10 mg per Pouches), “Extra Strong” with around 28.5 mg/g (approx. 18–20 mg per Pouches), and the so-called “#50 Series” with 50 mg/g (approx. 30 mg per Pouches). The latter can already be identified in the variety name, for example in “Lime Smash #50”.

With around 30 mg of nicotine per Pouches, Dope is one of the stronger options in the 50 mg/g category within the range. In terms of flavor, Dope keeps things compact and focuses on a few clearly distinct profiles: several mint varieties sit alongside fruity and cola-like notes, such as Lime Smash. As with all products from 21 mg/g and above: suitable for experienced consumers only.

Edel

Edel is manufactured by Swiss company MultiFill AG, headquartered in Stallikon, south of Zurich – a company founded in 2020 that has since expanded its production with a second manufacturing site in the EU. Edel’s Nicotine Pouches cover a range from 10 to 25 mg/g, which equals 4 to 15 mg per Pouches Equals. The range is complemented by a nicotine-free variety with a fresh mint flavor. At 25 mg/g, Edel fills the gap between the common extra-strong range and the significantly stronger 50 mg/g brands.

In terms of flavor, Edel covers the classic range from minty and menthol-rich to fruity and berry-like. On the mint side, options include Mint and Cold, complemented by Onyx – despite the abstract name, it offers a herbal eucalyptus profile with a mint note. New flavors are added regularly. According to the manufacturer, the formula is based on increased pouch moisture and a pH value specifically tuned to nicotine absorption.

Fix

Fix comes from Habit Factory Sweden AB in Stockholm – the manufacturer behind Klint and Noto – and within this trio, it takes on the role of flavor specialist. The brand name stands for "Flavour Index": the varieties are inspired by flavor profiles from the vape world, such as Pineapple Rum Coconut with a Piña Colada twist. When it comes to strength, you can choose freely between three levels: from Medium (8 mg/g) and stronger (12–14 mg/g) up to Extra Strong (16 mg/g). The focus is not on the kick, but on the flavor.

This concept is consistently carried through with Fix Zero, the brand’s nicotine-free sub-line: it offers the same flavors and the same Slim format, but with 0 mg nicotine. There are also varieties available that don’t exist in the nicotine version, such as Cola-Lime. This line is especially interesting for anyone who wants to consciously manage their nicotine intake and deliberately include nicotine-free moments without giving up the familiar pouch feel.

Garant

Garant – until recently listed as Grant – is a brand by UAB Kordula from Lithuania where the can content itself becomes a defining feature. With 27 pouches per Slim-can, Garant sits well above the market standard of 20 to 25 pouches. The strength range spans from 15.5 mg/g in the Prime Collection up to 50 mg/g in the Extreme line. The latter is aimed exclusively at experienced consumers with a high nicotine tolerance. At the lower end, the range is deliberately cut off: Garant does not offer a mild or nicotine-free product – the brand is positioned consistently in the strong to extra-strong segment.

What makes it interesting is that the strength varies along two axes: via the concentration and via the pouch weight. The same flavor therefore delivers less nicotine per Portion in the Mini format than in the Slim format – making the format itself almost a strength level of its own. In terms of flavor, Garant covers a broad range: from cool varieties like “Ice Cool” and “Arctic Frost” to fruitier options like “Peach”, “Mango Lime”, “Cherry”, and “Raspberry”.

Glitch

Glitch is produced by PouchPoint OÜ, a company founded in 2023 and based in Tallinn, Estonia. All four varieties share a uniform Nicotine content of 16 mg/g, which corresponds to a nicotine content of 12.8 mg per Pouches Equals. The only variable is the flavor – and even that follows a pattern: with Frosted Mint, Cool Ice, Blueberry Ice, and Frozen Cherry Cola, Glitch consistently focuses on chilled profiles, even for the fruity varieties.

Another defining feature of the Glitch varieties is the high absorption speed, or rather the fast onset of the nicotine effect. This is achieved through the specific composition and texture of the pouch contents. As a result, every Pouches offers a nicotine experience that is comparable in strength to products from the Killa Snus brand.

Glitch Snus

GOAT

GOAT comes from CBI/EPD International in Teplice, Czechia, the same company behind Dope and Syx. All listed varieties of Snuzone consistently come in at 16 mg/g, which equals around 11.5 mg of nicotine per Pouches Equals. The manufacturer also offers GOAT in two additional strength levels (#12 and #28).

What also makes the brand interesting is its advertised effect profile, which deliberately stands out from the usual brand standard: there is no strong kick at the beginning, but rather an even release over a longer period of time. According to the manufacturer, this is especially appealing to martial artists and athletes who value a stable effect without sudden peaks. Fittingly, the brand name "Greatest of All Time" comes from sports jargon. In terms of flavor, GOAT remains unconventional with varieties such as Red Blossom (wild cherry), Crystel Ice, and Blue Paradise (blueberry).

GOAT Snus

GREATEST

The Greatest Snus developed by Premium Pouch Global in Helsinki are among the few Finnish brands in the Snuzone range. The Nicotine Pouches cover strengths from Medium to strong, making them suitable both for smokers looking to quit and for experienced Snus consumers.

Greatest is defined by a formula with several dosage levels. However, there is some potential for confusion here: Cold Dry Strong has 16 mg/g, while Cold Dry Extra Strong has 16.6 mg/g – practically the same concentration, but 8 versus 11.6 mg per Pouches, because the Pouches weighs 0.5 instead of 0.7 g. With Greatest, the terms "Strong" and "Extra Strong" therefore do not describe a difference in concentration, but a difference in weight. In terms of flavor, Greatest focuses on a clear direction: mint and menthol. The brand’s proprietary "Cold Dry" technology is designed to deliver a tingling, dry, and especially long-lasting fresh flavor experience that stands out from classic mint pouches.

Greatest Snus

GRITT

A special feature of Gritt is its fast release of nicotine and flavor: the peak effect is reached after just a few seconds. As such, the brand is especially suited to advanced and experienced users. Gritt is produced by Ministry of Snus in Denmark, which is also known for its ACE and Rite brands.

The strengths are 16 or 20 mg/g. However, the brand does not state a conversion into milligrams per Pouches. Instead, Gritt describes an effect profile: increased pouch moisture combined with a balanced pH level that ensures the characteristically fast nicotine release. In terms of flavor, the collection features a "salty" Snus note accompanied by classically refreshing or fruity aromas. This positions Gritt deliberately as the counterpart to ACE within the Ministry-of-Snus portfolio. While ACE focuses on an even, mild experience with sweet flavors, Gritt stands for a fast, salty-intense kick.

Gritt Snus

Helwit

Helwit is a brand from the Swedish producer Yoik AB, founded in 2018, which is also known for the up-and-coming brand "Bow Snus". The production facility is located in Småland in southern Sweden. The key difference compared to almost all other brands lies in the form of nicotine: Helwit uses Nicotine Polacrilex, known from nicotine gum and lozenges. What makes it special is that this form of nicotine is absorbed evenly and in a controlled way through the oral mucosa in the Snus, resulting in a long-lasting, consistent effect – an approach that is especially suitable for beginners, vapers, and former smokers, as well as anyone looking for a smooth rather than an intense experience.

In line with that, the strength profile is capped at the upper end: 7 to 15 mg/g with a consistent pouch weight of 0.5 g, meaning a maximum of 7.5 mg per Pouches. In terms of flavor, the range goes from classic mint to more unusual options like coffee and tropical fruits.

Helwit Snus

Iceberg

The Iceberg brand stands for two things: a wide flavor selection and nicotine levels at the upper end of the spectrum. With around 25 flavor profiles and a strength range of 16 to 50 mg/g, Iceberg is aimed at experienced users looking for an intense nicotine experience. What stands out is the variety of flavors: it ranges from mint, fruit, grape gum, dragon fruit, cola, and dessert to exotic blends like Strawberry Pomegranate, while the ultra-strong varieties from many other brands are usually limited to mint flavors.

The X-Strong line comes in at 16 mg/g (12.8 mg per Pouches), placing it in the Snuzone class "Extra Strong". The Extreme and Mini lines, on the other hand, both come in at 50 mg/g, placing them in the Snuzone category "Ultra Strong". Products with 50 mg/g are only suitable for experienced consumers and must always be stored safely out of reach of children. Figures like 75 mg or 150 mg, which often appear in connection with Iceberg, do not refer to nicotine but to the brand's separate nicotine-free Energy line: caffeine pouches with exactly that caffeine content per Pouches.

Iceberg Snus

Killa

Killa Snus – also known as Killapods – is aimed at experienced consumers who prefer more unusual flavor styles. The brand is produced by NGP Tobacco, a manufacturer headquartered in the North Jutland region of Denmark. Due to its even higher nicotine content, the Pablo brand – also from NGP Tobacco – is often referred to as Killa's "big brother".

The Nicotine content remains consistent across the entire Killa range: 16 mg/g, which at a pouch weight of 0.8 g equals 12.8 mg per Pouches Equals , with 20 pouches per can. The only variable is the flavor spectrum – from classic mint to soft drink-inspired options like cola, cherry cola, lemonade, and bubblegum. Another defining feature is the comparatively high moisture level of the Pouches. It ensures that the nicotine is released more quickly through the oral mucosa. As a result, the effect kicks in noticeably faster. In the mint varieties, a cooling menthol note also further enhances the perceived strength.

Shop Killa Snus

Klint

Behind Klint is Habit Factory – a Stockholm-based company founded in 2018, which is also behind the Noto and Fix brands. What sets Klint apart from many other brands is its wide range of strengths: from 6 mg/g to 30 mg/g, Klint covers five strength levels – from moderately strong entry-level products to the ultra-strong segment for pros. Klint is available in three pouch formats: Mini, Slim, and Lage.

The same concentration results in a different dose per pouch depending on the format – for example, 16 mg/g delivers 6.4 mg in Mini and 11.2 mg in Slim. In the Large format, it is correspondingly more. This means: even a moderate mg/g value can, in the Large format, reach a nicotine amount per Portion that is otherwise only delivered by ultra-strong varieties. Can contents and pouch weight vary depending on the variety. Klint is also one of the few brands with genuinely low entry levels such as 6 and 8 mg/g, which are especially suitable for beginners. In terms of flavor, the brand clearly leans heavily toward menthol: most varieties are mint-based, from Breeze and Polar to Freeze and Avalance Mint.

Shop Klint Snus

Kuma

As a secondary line from Après Nicotine AB in Stockholm, Kuma brings a deliberately reduced concept to the range: four varieties, all at 25 mg/g and part of the "Ultra Strong" category within the Snuzone segment. This makes Kuma the only brand in the Snuzone range whose varieties all sit in the highest strength class – there is no weaker level and no other format.

Also striking is the combination with the lightest Slim-Pouches in the comparison field at 0.55 g, resulting in 13.75 mg per Portion. So it is a high concentration in a small volume, without a large pouch mass. In terms of flavor, Banana Toffee stands out as the line’s only caramel dessert flavor, complemented by the Wintergreen, Cherry, Blood Orange, and Ice Cool varieties. Overall, Kuma remains a deliberately narrow line without a line system, aimed exclusively at experienced consumers.

Kurwa

MB Eurolit in Vilnius is considered the manufacturer of Kurwa Snus – this is also where the brand’s e-cigarettes are produced. Kurwa became known above all for its striking can designs and the high Nicotine content. In terms of flavor, the brand offers a broad palette with one thing consistently at the forefront: intensity. Whether fruity sweetness or berry-like notes – the flavors appear in singular, dual, or multiple variations.

Beyond its unusual flavor varieties, Kurwa is best known for its intense kick experience. This is mainly due to the high pouch moisture, which releases both flavor and nicotine more quickly. In combination with a pH level tailored to it, nicotine absorption is accelerated even further. Peak nicotine release is reached after around three to five minutes. Accordingly, Kurwa-Nicotine Pouches are aimed at experienced users with a high nicotine tolerance.

Loop

Loop comes from Another Snus Factory, which manufactures in Stockholm, and stands out from the rest of the market through three independent features. The first thing that stands out is the spiciness: instead of relying on a single chili variety, the concept is built around three different sources – Jalapeño (in Jalapeño Lime), Habanero, and Red Chili. Jalapeño Lime alone is available in several strength levels. The manufacturer sees the spiciness not just as a flavor component, but as a deliberately used part of the overall effect.

A second, self-described release profile is added to this: "InstantRush" stands for an almost immediate release with a steep initial peak right after placing it under the lip, followed by a steady decline over up to 40 minutes – with a deliberately medium rather than high pouch moisture. The third point concerns the packaging itself: according to the manufacturer, the can is made of 50% plant fibers and recycled plastic and is fully recyclable. In terms of strength, Loop covers a range from 9 to 25 mg/g, which corresponds to up to 15.6 mg per Pouches.

Loop Snus

NOAT

Technically speaking, Noat is the most independent brand in the Snuzone range. Behind it is NOAT Inc. with its own factory, Noat Sweden AB in Skåne, where development, production, and packaging all come together in one place. Four features set the brand apart from others: first, the oat-based filling, which according to the manufacturer stores more flavor and nicotine than pure cellulose fibers. Second, the combination of two nicotine forms – Nicotine Polacrilex and purified free-base nicotine – which is designed to provide a flat release profile over around 60 minutes without an initial peak. Third, a deliberately pH-neutral range of 6 to 7.5 instead of the usual alkaline setup, to avoid a burning sensation. Fourth, the packaging itself: a cardboard can, complemented by Pouches that are described as compostable and microplastic-free. The ingredient list remains fully declared and easy to understand.

When it comes to strength, Noat uses three levels – 8, 14, and 20 mg/g – which Equals 4 to 10 mg per Pouches. The brand deliberately does not go beyond 20 mg/g. In terms of flavor, peppermint dominates in several variations, complemented by more unusual options such as “Ginger Peach,” “Spicy Lime,” and “Matcha.”

NOAT Snus

Nois

With a Nicotine strength of 12 to 50 mg/g, the Nicotine Pouches from Nois cover a wide range of consumer preferences. The brand is produced by HRJ Production OÜ, headquartered and manufactured in Tallinn. The 50 mg/g variants are expressly recommended only for experienced Snus consumers. Thanks to their special, comparatively moist pouch recipe, these pouches deliver a noticeable nicotine kick right at the start of use that should not be underestimated.

The range can be roughly divided into several strength levels: standard-Slim-Pouches with 12 to 25 mg/g, the Extreme line with up to 50 mg/g, the compact Mini format with a pouch weight of around 0.31 g, as well as an entry-level variant with 8 mg/g (around 4 mg per Pouches). Another special feature is that the can content at Nois is part of the product differentiation and does not remain constant – depending on the variety, the cans contain between 22 and 33 Pouches. In terms of flavor, the range extends from classic mint varieties to fruity and berry flavors, with eucalyptus as a niche option.

Nois Snus

Nor

Nor Nicotine Pouches are produced by the company Den Norske Snusfabrikken AS in the Norwegian municipality of Våler. In the factory near Oslo, opened in 2022, the manufacturer states that it focuses on traditional production without CO2 emissions. Four things set the Nor brand apart: first, the numbered nomenclature – the varieties originally carried the names of Norwegian mountains and landscapes; the numbers remained while the names were changed to flavor descriptions. For example, “No. 1 Falketind” became “No. 1 Cool Mint”. Second, the can filling contains 21 instead of the otherwise usual 20 Pouches.

Third, there is a full nicotine-free line with mint and berry flavors, including Ice Mint, Spearmint, and Lime Strawberry. The fourth and perhaps most striking special feature is the patented NAKD Pods. These are pouch-free nicotine portions in which the vegan binding agent agar completely replaces the classic nonwoven wrapper.

NOR Snus

Noto

Behind the Noto brand is the Swedish manufacturer Habit Factory, which has already made a name for itself in the Snus market with the brands Klint and Fix. Within this trio, Noto positions itself as the extravagant brand: the range includes neither mint nor fruit or berry – instead, the entire selection consists of unusual flavor varieties. Rather than the market-standard palette, Noto focuses on spices, conifer wood, and tea: Pimentón (allspice), ginger, pine, cedar, jasmine tea, green tea, and bergamot. In a segment otherwise dominated by mint and berry, this is a deliberate departure from the usual flavor world. Here, spice, forest, and tea notes are deliberately combined with a Nicotine Pouches concept.

Noto also takes its own approach to strength: the concentration appears as a digit directly in the product name. #2 Equals 8 mg/g, #3 twelve, and #4 sixteen mg/g – with a pouch weight of 0.7 g, that means 5.6 to 11.2 mg per Pouches.

Nued

Nued comes from Vont AB in Stockholm and is produced entirely in Sweden. In addition to Nued, Vont AB also makes its own brand Vont Snus – both share the same core idea: nicotine products should not only be functional, but also aesthetically appealing. All Nued products contain a consistent 14 mg/g of nicotine, making them ideal for smokers and vapers who prefer a moderate Nicotine strength. With 7 mg of nicotine per 0.5 g Pouches, Nued offers a balanced nicotine experience.

So the strength stays the same throughout the Nued range – the only difference is the flavor: Icy Mint, Strawberry, Lemon Lime, Banana, and Cola. Apart from its single-strength setup, Nued remains a deliberately conventional brand, positioned primarily through its packaging aesthetics. The manufacturer does not mention any special formula or nicotine type.

Nued Snus

Pablo

N.G.P Tobacco is also well aware that demand for Slim Pouches is steadily growing. Pablo Snus is therefore available exclusively in the discreet Slim format. The range follows a structure of four strength levels, named after metal colors and editions: “Silver Edition” with 14.5 mg/g (10.15 mg per Pouches), “Gold Edition” with around 24 mg/g (about 17 mg), the standard line with “Ice Cold,” “X-Ice Cold,” and “Red” at 30 mg/g (24 mg), as well as the “Exclusive line” with 50 mg/g (30 mg per Pouches).

The Exclusive line alone covers more than 20 flavor varieties. What makes it special: a number of flavors, including Kiwi, Pear, Grape Ice, and Blueberry Peach Ice, are available across several strength levels and in two or three editions each. Flavor and strength are therefore deliberately separated from one another. A standout in the range is X-Ice Cold: a tobacco-free Pouches with a tobacco undertone, whose formula was deliberately developed against the industry trend toward especially moist pouches. The 50 mg/g products are suitable only for experienced consumers.

Siberia

Siberia Snus stands out for its uncompromising strength and classic peppermint profile. Since 2014, the Swedish manufacturer GN Tobacco has been producing the tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches of the All White line in its own production facility. At 33 mg/g, they fall into the ultra-strong category. They should not be confused with the tobacco-containing red Siberia originals, which may not be sold in the EU outside Sweden.

The All White line consists of exactly three products: one flavor, one nicotine concentration, and three pouch sizes. The only difference therefore comes from the pouch weight. Super Slim with 0.65 g delivers 21.45 mg per Pouches, Slim with 0.7 g delivers 23.1 mg, and the Large format with 0.87 g delivers 28.6 mg. The latter is the smallest can fill in the range, with 15 pouches per can. In terms of flavor, there is only one profile: mint and peppermint with menthol coolness. Ultra Strong, exclusively for experienced consumers.

Skruf

Named after the small town where it all began, Skruf was founded in Sweden in 2003 by two friends. Today, the brand is part of the portfolio of Imperial Brands, one of the world’s largest tobacco companies. Skruf uses a numbering system to identify its varieties. Two-digit numbers belong to the Superwhite line, while three-digit numbers with a leading zero belong to the Intense line. The numbers themselves do not indicate the strength. Instead, this is shown via a separate dot system on the can lid.

Another special feature is that the same flavor exists in several strength levels, each with its own number. For example, “Fresh Mint” is available as No. 52 with 8.32 mg/g, as No. 53 with 13.87 mg/g, and as No. 54 with 15.2 mg/g. The Superwhite cans contain 24 instead of the usual 20 Pouches. A recipe fine-tuned for moisture and pH value ensures the characteristically fast release of nicotine and flavor.

SYX

The SYX brand is aimed at experienced consumers who want to give up tobacco, but not the nicotine kick and wide variety of flavors. Like the brands Dope and GOAT, SYX comes from Consumer Brands International in the Czech Republic. SYX nicotine pouches are available in several strength levels – Medium, Extra Strong and Ultra Strong. Depending on the variant, one Pouches contains 5.6, 11.6 or 19.95 mg of nicotine.

Thanks to the moist formula of the Pouches, the nicotine is released quickly, resulting in a correspondingly strong Snus effect. So don’t be misled by the pure Nicotine content alone: with 19.95 mg per Pouches, SYX is one of the stronger options compared to brands like Skruf or Velo. In terms of flavor, the SYX range covers a broad spectrum: from minty and fresh varieties like Peppermint, Spearmint and Freeze to fruity options like Wild Cherry, Tropical and Banana Ice, all the way to soft drink-inspired variants like Icy Cola.

V&You

When it comes to strength labeling, the V&You brand from Vilosophy UK Ltd takes its own approach: instead of a simple number, the strength is given directly in the product title as a line name. There are four levels: “Focus” with 10 mg/g (6 mg per Pouches), “Boost” with around 16 to 20 mg/g, “Boost+” with 27 mg/g (16.2 mg per Pouches), and “Boost Max” with around 36 mg/g (19.8 mg per Pouches). The last two levels are significantly stronger than usual, which is why they are recommended exclusively for experienced users.

What stands out is that the flavor components run across several levels. This means flavor and strength can be chosen largely independently of each other. As another distinguishing feature, the manufacturer also specifies the pH value. “Boost+” is specifically designed for optimized nicotine absorption. Together with the high pouch moisture, this explains why it is recommended for experienced users. In terms of taste, the range is noticeably berry- and fruit-forward, with varieties like “Blueberry Ice,” “Kiwi Rush,” or “Savage Mango.”

Velo

Two things set Velo apart. First, the can features a sensory labeling system you won’t find with any other brand: “Cooling”, “Tingling”, and “Heating” describe the mouthfeel independently of the actual flavor. Another standout is the finely graduated strength range: concentrations go from 6 to 27 mg/g, which equals 4 to 17 mg per Pouches Equals, spread across numerous individual levels. This means Velo covers the full range from Medium to ultra-strong and appeals equally to beginners and experienced consumers.

In terms of flavor, peppermint and spearmint dominate, complemented by varieties such as “Lime Flame”, “Mango Flame”, and “Dark Blackcurrant” – plus “Zesty Elderflower”, which brings an elderflower-lime note. The Velo brand belongs to British American Tobacco (BAT), one of the world’s largest tobacco and nicotine companies, headquartered in London.

Vont

From rum cola to strawberry milkshake: with Vont, it’s less about strength and more about flavor. The focus is on beverage and dessert profiles, including Havana Cola with a rum-cola character, Creamy Strawberry as a strawberry milkshake, as well as Banana and Lemon Lime. Vont comes from Vont AB in Sweden, the same manufacturer behind Nued.

The range follows an almost symmetrical structure: there are five varieties, mostly available in two strengths – 14 mg/g as the base and 24 mg/g as Extra Strong. With a pouch weight of 0.5 g, Equals this corresponds to 7 and 12 mg per Pouches respectively. However, the nicotine content can be misleading, as Vont Nicotine Pouches have significantly higher pouch moisture than other snus varieties. This means the nicotine is released more quickly, leading to a strong peak effect right at the start of use.

Shop Vont Snus

White Fox

One of White Fox’s special features is the Nicotine content. Slim and Double Mint are at around 12 to 16 mg/g, which equals roughly 12 mg per Pouches Equals. This covers the “Strong” to “Extra Strong” categories. Full Charge, on the other hand, uses larger Pouches with around 16.5 mg/g. The Black Edition is the brand’s strongest variant, with up to 22.5 to 26 mg of nicotine per Pouches, and is intended exclusively for very experienced users.

All varieties are mint or menthol, and the manufacturer deliberately avoids fruit flavors. Full Charge doesn’t achieve its strength through concentration, but through pouch mass instead: a larger Pouches delivers more nicotine per Portion, even if the concentration itself is more moderate than in the Black Edition. However, Full Charge contains only 15 instead of the usual 20 Pouches per can. White Fox is manufactured by GN Tobacco from Sweden, founded in 2004 in Enköping – the same company behind Siberia.

XQS

What sets XQS apart from many other Nicotine Pouches brands is its consistent focus on multiple flavor profiles: fruit-forward and unusual aroma variations that surprise the user. This has created a portfolio that covers an exceptional range, from cool Wintergreen and Hallonsonda to Tropical. The Light line follows a mirror principle: four flavors exist twice, with identical taste and exactly half the concentration.

The brand is the best example that mg/g is not the same as strength: all 18 varieties are Slim, but there are four different pouch weights from 0.5 to 0.8 g. This means the same mg/g value can stand for two completely different doses per pouch: 16 mg/g delivers 8 mg in the core line, but 11.2 mg in Arctic Freeze with 0.7 g pouches. XQS was founded in 2005 in Jämtland, Sweden, and today belongs to Scandinavian Tobacco Group.

Zeronito

If you love the pouch format but are ready to leave nicotine behind, Zeronito is a great match. Zeronito offers a wide flavor spectrum – from classic mint varieties to exotic combinations. What makes it interesting is how the brand replaces the missing nicotine effect. Three of the eight varieties use spiciness: Jalapeño Lime, Blueberry Chilli, and Peppermint Fire.

The manufacturer describes the mechanism as follows: the heat from the chili takes over the noticeable burn that would otherwise come from nicotine. In addition, there are the varieties Icy Mint, Strawberry Lime, Black Cherry, and Cola, as well as the only Large variety, Mint. The format also stays simple: 0.74 g in the Slim format and 0.8 g in the Large format, with a wear time of 20 to 60 minutes. Behind the brand is the company Microzero AB from Gothenburg.

Zeus

Zeus comes from Vivasnus, headquartered in Latvia, and according to the manufacturer is produced in Europe. Seven varieties are at 50 mg/g, with four more in the Legend line at 16.5 mg/g. This puts both strengths in the Snuzone category "Ultra Strong". There are no gradations in between.

What is technically interesting is how the top end is achieved: 25 mg nicotine per Portion from a Pouches weighing 0.5 g – the lightest pouch format – purely through concentration and not through pouch mass. The flavor allocation also follows a clear logic: the candy flavors are found at the extreme strength – Bubblegum at 50 mg/g is a combination hardly offered by any other brand – while Cherry Cola is found in the Legend line. Added to this are Mint Rage, Arctic Freeze, Frozen Citrus, Tropic Burst, Cherry Blossom, and Epic Berry in the stronger line, as well as Cosmopolitan, Thunder Strike, and Mighty Mint in the Legend line.

Zixs

When switching gradually to smoke-free alternatives, the right in-between steps are crucial – and that is exactly where Zixs comes in. Behind the brand is the Swedish family company Microzero AB from Gothenburg, which also produces Zeronito. The Nicotine Pouches are available in several strength levels, so both heavy smokers and occasional smokers can find a suitable dosage: from 8 to 16 and up to 23 mg/g for particularly experienced users.

At 0.735 g, the Slim-Pouches are significantly heavier than the 0.5 g Pouches used by many other brands. As a result, Zixs reaches a per-pouch dose of 12 mg despite a nominal strength of just 16 mg/g, which Equals the Quantity of a 20 mg/g brand with a lighter Pouches. Also standing out are the varieties Blue Chilli with a chili note, Cola Buzz, and the special edition Exotic Chill.

Brands and varieties that used to have different names

Some of the confusion when searching for brands is due to renamings. The following brands are among those affected:

Grant and Garant are the same brand with the same products – only the product names are continuously being changed. So if you're searching for “Grant Snus” or “Grand Snus”, you'll end up at Garant.

The story of EPOK and LYFT is much more complex. Originally, Lyft was BAT's tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches brand for Scandinavia and parts of Europe. As part of a global brand harmonization, the group merged all Lyft and Epok products under the international name “Velo” in 2022. The strength scale helps with orientation here: the 1-to-6 dot system on the can was retained from Lyft to Velo. There were also renamings within individual product ranges. For example, Skruf switched its varieties to a consistent numbering system. At NOR, the varieties originally had names of Norwegian mountains and landscapes, which were replaced by flavor descriptions. Kurwa’s former Fatality and Killer lines with 46.9 mg/g have now disappeared from the range, and only the Kurwa Collection with 16 mg/g remains.

Who is behind the Snus brands? The manufacturers

Behind the good 40 brands in the range are significantly fewer companies – a pattern familiar from other consumer goods markets. This explains why some brands resemble each other, while others within the same portfolio are deliberately positioned to stand apart.

For example, N.G.P. Tobacco from Denmark, with its production site in Aalborg, is behind the brands Pablo, Killa, BLCK, and Xtrime. What matters more than their shared origin is the clear separation by strength: BLCK occupies the mid segment at 12 mg/g, Killa stays at 16 mg/g, and Pablo covers the widest range at 14.5 to 50 mg/g.

Behind Pablo, Killa, BLCK, and Xtrime is N.G.P Tobacco from Denmark, with its production site in Aalborg. More revealing than the shared origin is the clear separation by strength: BLCK occupies the mid segment at 12 mg/g, Killa stays at 16 mg/g, and Pablo covers the widest range at 14.5 to 50 mg/g.

Habit Factory from Stockholm divides its portfolio by flavor worlds: Klint takes care of mint and the strength ladder, Fix the fruity-sweet, vape-inspired profiles, and Noto exclusively spices, conifer wood, and tea. Noto’s niche is therefore not a random choice, but the result of a deliberate division of roles.

GN Tobacco, with its factory in Enköping, Sweden, produces White Fox and Siberia All White — in both cases, compact ranges focused exclusively on mint and menthol profiles. Nicotobacco Factory from Warsaw is behind the brands Cuba and Baron, Consumer Brands International from the Czech Republic behind the brands Dope, GOAT and Syx, Microzero AB from Gothenburg behind the brands Zixs and Zeronito, Après Nicotine AB from Stockholm behind the brands Après and Kuma, Vont AB behind the brands Vont and Nued, and Ministry of Snus behind the brands ACE and Gritt.

Among the corporate brands: British American Tobacco is behind Velo, which is produced in Pécs, Hungary. Imperial Brands owns Skruf, whose factory is located in Sävsjö, Sweden. Scandinavian Tobacco Group is behind XQS. Swedish Match, one of the oldest manufacturers of tobacco-containing Snus with classics like Ettan (since 1822), has been part of Philip Morris International since 2022.

Which Snus brands are legal in Germany?

All brands mentioned in this article refer to tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches — and that is exactly where the legal issue lies. Traditional tobacco-containing Snus is banned from sale throughout the EU — with the exception of Sweden. This is regulated in the European Tobacco Products Directive 2014/40/EU (TPD), which was transposed into national law in Germany in 2016. 3

Tobacco-free Nicotine Pouches, on the other hand, do not fall under this directive, as it is linked to the presence of tobacco. In Germany, they are instead classified under food law and categorized as “novel food.” This means there is still no explicit authorization to market them. Nevertheless, purchasing them from online retailers based in the EU but outside Germany remains legal for adult end consumers. 4

Separate from this, the following applies: nicotine carries an addiction risk — regardless of brand, strength, or flavor — and side effects may occur. According to an investigation by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), the risk of poisoning was also significantly higher for products containing almost 50 mg of nicotine per Pouches. 1 More details can be found in the article “Snus side effects”.

Which Snus brand is the best?

Finally, there’s probably the most common question of all: “Which Snus brand is the best?” There’s no one-size-fits-all answer with just a single brand name, because several factors come into play.

The following criteria are especially important: Nicotine content, moisture, pouch size, and flavor. When it comes to Nicotine content, the range goes from 1–5 mg per Pouches for beginners to over 20 mg per Pouches for people with experience using Snus. If you want to go for nicotine-free Snus, several brands now offer suitable options. As a general rule, make sure the nicotine content and ingredients are clearly labeled on the can.

Which combination of these four factors suits you best ultimately depends on your personal preferences and on whether the product is intended for getting started, switching over, or as an everyday companion.
